Dental Implants

Missing a tooth — or been told you don't have enough bone for an implant?

A gap affects how you chew and smile, and the bone beneath it slowly shrinks. You may be dealing with:

  • A gap you avoid chewing on or showing when you smile
  • A bridge or denture that moves, clicks or rubs
  • A failing tooth your dentist says can't be saved
  • Previous advice that implants aren't possible because of bone loss

Dental Implant Surgery in Singapore

Replacing missing teeth with titanium or zirconia implants, including bone grafting and sinus lift procedures.

What Is a Dental Implant?

A dental implant is a small titanium post placed in the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. Once it has bonded with the bone, it supports a crown, bridge or denture.

Who Is Suitable?

Most adults who have lost teeth through decay, gum disease or injury can be considered. Factors assessed include the amount and quality of bone, gum health, smoking and general medical conditions such as diabetes.

When the Bone Is Not Enough

Where bone has been lost, it can often be rebuilt. Options include bone grafting at the time of implant placement, ridge augmentation beforehand, and sinus lift procedures for the upper back jaw. Complex cases may be planned with 3D scans and surgical guides.

Treatment Timeline

Implants are usually placed under local anaesthesia, with sedation available. The implant is typically left to integrate for about three to four months before the final crown is fitted. In selected cases a tooth can be removed and an implant placed on the same day.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do dental implants last?

With good oral hygiene and regular reviews, implants can last ten to fifteen years. The crown on top may need replacing over time due to wear.

Does implant surgery hurt?

The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia. Discomfort afterwards is usually mild and managed with standard painkillers for a few days.

Can MediSave be used for dental implants?

Implant placement is on the MOH table of surgical procedures and part of the cost may be MediSave-claimable, subject to limits. The clinic can advise on your specific case.
